Fail to plan? Then plan to fail.

Fail to plan? Then plan to fail.

By Emily Boylin

Have you ever had a day when you have your training clothes packed, but never get to wear them because you never got around to fitting your training session into your day?

What about a day full of good intentions for eating a healthy lunch, but somehow end up eating fast food while running to a meeting or en route to pick the kids up from school?

Frustrating? Yes! Avoidable? Absolutely!

I can’t stress enough how important a plan is when you’re on a weight loss journey. It can help you stay on track on a daily basis for your health and fitness goals.

A plan can be really easy to make too – it's about knowing what to do and when you’ll do it. It might sound a little harsh, but saying “I’ll fit it in at some point today” isn’t good enough. You need to know what you’re fitting in and when so you can stick to it and make it happen. Being too busy to plan probably means you are too busy fullstop - but success in life (not just weight loss and fitness) starts with a good plan.

I’d love for you to make a plan for next week. Here are a few tips:
1. Know what you’re eating for each meal of the day
2. Know when you’re eating each meal – are you having breakfast at home or when you get to work? Are you eating lunch before or after your 1pm meeting?
3. Know what exercise you’re doing each day
4. Know when you’re going to exercise too – will you train as soon as you wake up or when you get home?

Better still, note your specifics from above in your diary, stick your plan on your fridge door, or pin it up by your computer at work so you can’t get side tracked.

Failing to plan is planning to fail. So plan to succeed instead.
